In her acceptance speech for the Horizon Award, she thanked her label, American Idol and her fans. Her second speech was given in tears saying “Two years ago, I was sitting at home watching these very awards, watching all these other people win and have the best night of their lives. And I have had so many good times and so many wonderful things happen to me this past year. … My band, my family, God. Thank you, fans. Everybody that has anything to do with this past year, thank you so much.”
Earlier in the show, she performed her newest single "Before He Cheats" wearing a short dress, and strutting around like a woman on a mission. Last year, she performed on this same stage and since has sold 4 million albums.
During her red carpet interview, Underwood mentioned she would be auctioning off her gown (valued at $850,000) on the website Gotta Have It!, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Humane Society of the United States for their Rural Area Veterinary Services Program.

On a not so happy note - tempers are flaring in Nashville...
As reported by Reality TV Magazine (realitytvmagazine.com) For the Female Vocalist of the Year Award, Carrie Underwood was up against former Dancing with the Stars contestant Sara Evans, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, and Gretchen Wilson. As Billy Ray Cyrus and his daughter announced the nominees for the award, the camera focused in on all five singers. After Carrie Underwood’s name was announced as the winner, Faith Hill could be seen throwing her hands up in the air and yelling something at the camera before walking off. Faith Hill appeared to have yelled something along the lines of a surprised “What!” but her voice was not audible. Faith Hill also appeared to be angry, but it’s possible that she was trying to make a joke. Whether Faith Hill was seriously upset, just making a joke, or having difficulty hearing, her reaction has created shockwaves among country music fans.
If you tivo it back to where they announce the nominees right after they say the 5 ladies names they cut to all 5 and as you see faith appear on scream you can see her mouth the words "I better F**cking win". I have watched it over and over and put it the slo mo and she really says this so that would make me believe that she isnt joking, she is actually pissed off that she didnt win. Im suprised nobody is talking about the part she mouthed before carrie was announced the winner. Regardless of what happened Im sure she is going to say it was just a joke.
